Bob
Bob is a four year old apricot poodle, who first came to South Hyland one year ago. Bob had an unfortunate start, having spent the first several years of his life being kept in a small box, and had severe muscle atrophy from disuse of his legs.
Bob's second owner was unable to provide the care Bob needed, so South Hyland kept him and began the search for a new home for Bob. As Bob sat up front with the receptionists, he won the hearts of staff and clients alike, with his gentle trust of new people. Bob would greet people by staggering up to them, often carrying his back legs both up in the air as he walked, and wagging his tail. When he was picked up, Bob would then tuck his head under his holder's neck and snuggle in.
Soon, along came the answer to Bob's dreams. The Faulise family stopped by the clinic and noticed Bob. They visited with Bob twice that day, and Bob's full situation was explained to them. He not only needed a home where he would be provided food, water and shelter, but he also needed physical therapy for an extended period of time to develop and strengthen his joints and tendons and to be on anti-inflammatory medication in support of his therapy. Most of all, Bob needed a good dose of TLC. The Faulises, with Bob nestled on their lap, agreed to be his new family.
Now, two months later, Bob has been transformed. He is surrounded by love and constant stimulation. He is part of a complete family, and as a result of their support he has made vast progress medically. Bob has gone from not being able to walk with his back legs, to completing trips around Normandale Lake on all fours! We salute the Faulise family for their devotion to Bob, and thank technician Mary Cothran for donating her time and expertise in physical therapy and rehabilitation. As you can see from Bob's photo, life is truly good.
