Say hello to Pretzel!

Pretzel is a fourteen year old Dachshund, who lives in Bloomington with her Mom. She has been a patient of South Hyland Pet Hospital since she was eight weeks old. Pretzel has braved a number of health issues over her years. As a puppy, she had a reaction to one of her first vaccinations. As an adult, she developed a problem with low platelets and red blood cells called Evan's syndrome, where her body attacked and destroyed her own cells. She responded well to treatment. In 2005, she underwent surgery at the University of Minnesota to repair a problem with a disk in her neck, and sailed through that challenge as well. Besides some intermittent skin problems and dry eyes, Pretzel is truly a tribute to her age. She is a devoted companion to her Mom, and has a sweet personality and inner strength that persist through any challenge she faces. We always enjoy our visits with Pretzel and her Mom, and feel privileged to be able to care for her.
