Veterinary Technicians



Tara

A Certified Veterinary Technician, Tara graduated from Ridgewater College where she was awarded her Associate's Degree in Applied Sciences in 2002. She worked at the Mayo Clinic as an Animal Research Technician and is originally from Spring Valley, MN.

Tara has been with South Hyland Pet Hospital since the spring of 2004. She is the radiation safety officer and a member of the Minnesota Association of Veterinary Technicians (MAVT). Tara is a Certified Dog Trainer and has a special interest in animal behavior. She is the puppy class instructor and also does individual consults for behavioral issues. Also, Tara participated in the implementation of a weight loss program for overweight pets.

Tara enjoys spending time with her husband Jason, boating, walking and visiting with her family. She trains hunting dogs with positive reinforcement techniques. Their pets include four dogs, Chance, Ziva, Izzy and Sawyer, and two cats, Ivy ("Miss Kitty") and Hogan, and occasionally a foster dog that is in need of a positive, loving home environment.



Mary

A certified veterinary technician, Mary graduated from Elk River High School then attended the Medical Institute of Minnesota where she was awarded her Associate's Degree in Applied Sciences in 2000.

Mary has been with South Hyland Pet Hospital since 1999. She is the inventory manager and veterinary technician intern coordinator at South Hyland. She is also a member of the Minnesota Association of Veterinary Technicians. Mary has persued advanced training and education in veterinary massage and rehabilitation therapy which is one of her special interests.

Mary enjoys spending time with her husband Brad, son Teigan and daughter Corbyn. She also enjoys camping, scrapbooking and traveling with her family. Their pets include a cat named Sage and a dog named Coco.


Certified veterinary technician Sandi has helped care for pets at South Hyland Pet Hospital since 2008. A native of Minnesota, she attended Minnetonka High School. Sandi received her Associate's Degree from Argosy University in 2006 and is certified by the state of Minnesota. Sandi is a member of the Minnesota Association of Veterinary Technicians and holds a certificate from the American Society of Veterinary Dental Technicians.

At home, she enjoys the companionship of two American Staffordshire Terriers, Daisy and Hazelnut. Sandi also fosters puppies for ACT V Rescue & Rehabilitation. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, golfing and hanging out with her pets and family. She and her husband, Mark, have four children.
